‘Yin Yoga and Sound Bath’ with Ann-Marie Alvarsdotter, Thursday 14th May Drumbeg Village Hall and Friday 15th May, Scourie Village Hall. Booking essential.

7-9pm

A new workshop and collaboration between Kari Knight and Swedish Shamanic drummer Ann-Marie-Alvarsdotter who is visiting Scotland. The yin yoga will designed to address areas of tightness, resistance or stagnation in the connective tissues. With a slow-paced, floor-based practice the asanas are designed to work with mindfulness of the breath to unravel deep held tensions whether emotional, physical or mental. The first part of the practice will help you prepare for the deeper release that the drumming will bring. These two practitioners have many years of experience and have worked together in yoga and sound healing retreats in Sweden over many years. Equipment can be provided and the practice will be modified to meet all abilities and adjustments given. Yin can be adapted to become a more restorative practice under Kari’s expert guidance. Cost: £25 payable in advance.

Join us for this ritual experience and meditation led by Cambridge-based homoeopath, astrologer and Shamanic healer Marlow Purves. Come and share the new moon together, manifesting our intentions in the ensuing lunar cycle and aligning with the whisperings of mother earth herself. The new moon in Taurus emphasises the connection we have with the planet, with nature, and with our sensual selves as it joins forces with Mercury. The practice will end with an invitation to stay and share food cooked on the firepit. Donation between £5-£10.

Land Healing Weekend
16-17 May 2026
”When we can stand on a ruined place, enriching it, healing it - that’s how we change this world. That’s how we improve things in our lifetime, and that’s how we become good ancestors to those who come after us.”
quote by Wendell Berry.
Land healing concerns the impact of human habitation upon the earth, through migration, war, agriculture and treaty and incorporates the non-human ancestral energies that exist from the worlds of the animal and the Devic realms.

Spirit is all, and we are Spirit. Throughout time many different energies have been brought to bear upon the land and as such have left a signature. Energy lines run through the earth and have different points of convergence which in turn present us with different vectors of power, healing and intelligence. Land healing is an attempt to tune into and identify these lines and work through various means to align with the original blueprint and restore it to balanced expression.

Saturday 16th May Sacred water ceremonies at Inchdadamph led by Ann-Marie Alvarsdotter from 10am.
Moon meditation Saturday 16th May on the new moon in Taurus led by astrologer Marlow Purves from 5pm at the mediation circle and firepit at Croft 355, Nedd.

Sunday 17th May The Assynt Clearances, healing in the townships of Nedd and Glenleraig. Group work with Kari Knight, Ann-Marie Alvarsdotter and Marlow Purves.

Saturday morning monthly workshops in Drumbeg, Lairg or surrounding areas by arrangement.

The new model of teaching is to check in with your teacher for a workshop from time-to-time for some more in-depth teaching which will in turn help to develop and sustain a home practice. These workshops will draw on several types of yoga: Hatha being the mainstay practice, including elements of Yin Yoga, Restorative and Yoga Nidra. Attendees will be invited to a ‘bring-a-dish’ shared vegetarian lunch.

WINTER meditation group workshops. Come and learn the techniques of breath-awareness meditation to keep your mind healthy and bring calm and peace to your inner being.

The wee yoga studio, Nedd and by the meditation and firepit if weather allows.

For many winter can be a time to go inwards and to restore oneself… a time of deep peace and reflection. For others it can be a time of isolation or aloneness that can give rise to inner anxiety and stress. Learning to meditate can be a valuable tool to help keep balanced when the daylight abruptly stops and triggers deep biological and emotional responses that may feel out of our control. Can we embrace the dark and the cold with a strong sense of a unified self through meditation?
